Enlightened by the example of
American writer Angell and his wife
Nie Hualing's establishment of International
Writer Center in the United States
in 1980, the couple of Pan Jie also
established HangZhou Chuyangtai
literature Garden by the side of
the West Lake five years later,
providing free writing circumstances
for writers who suffer difficulties.
These are the members of the fourth
training class. At left three of
the first row is Zhang Rong, the
famous writer.

早在1980年，潘杰夫妇受了来杭讲学的美国作家安格尔和聂华苓夫妇在美创办国际笔会中心的遍，五年后也在西子湖畔创办了杭州初阳台文学创作园，邀请作家免费住园创作。这是第四期创作班成员，前排左三为著名女作家谌容、左一为顾问张白怀。

friendship Rainbow across the Pacific
Ocean, which is to be published.)
由此种种，潘杰感到中美友谊对促进两国社会发展很有好处，便向有关部门申请批准在美丽的西子湖畔创建一个中美友谊民间纪念馆。这是浙江省文物局批文。

为使早日形象地宣传中美友谊，潘杰创编了《中美友好200年》大型图片展览。1999年国庆，在杭州宋城集团的新影点美国城“白宫”正式展出。陈香梅女士（后排中）为美国城开幕典礼剪彩后，特地参观了这个展览，十分称道。

In order to visually propagate
Sino-American friendship, Pan Jie
organized a large pictorial exhibition
named Sino-American friendship
over Last Two Centuries. On
the National Day of 1999, the exhibiton
was shown in the white house of
American, a new scenic spot of Hangzhou
Song Dynasty Town Group. Ms. Chen
Xiangmei praised the exhibition
after she visited it.
