    In November 1943, President Roosevelt (middle) and Jiang Jieshi (left) met in Cairo, with Song Meiling (right) acting as interpreter. This meeting made strategic plans on the Pacific war zone and decided"Japan must withdraw his army from the Pacific islands under its occupation", and withdraw from China. It was on this meeting that a claim of "unconditional surrender" was raised for the first time.
